GLENMONT, N.Y. -- Bethlehem Police say a delivery truck hit a gas line at the Price Chopper Plaza in Glenmont.

Officials say a truck was making a delivery to Angela's Pizza and Pasta and accidentally backed in too close to the building.

Police have closed off the parking lot as National Grid works to shut off the gas line.

"They had to dig up the ground. Had to get below the ground the pinch off the gas main to the building," said Selkirk Fire Chief Bill Asprion.

A heavy gas odor lingered inside the building, and the chief said they ventilated the stores and made sure everything was safe before customers were allowed back in.

There were no injuries due to the leak, and the chief says National Grid will look into safety precautions as they rebuild this gas line.
