Police go after distracted drivers in Schenectady


SCHENECTADY, NY - On Friday the New York State Police in Princetown conducted a Distracted Driving Enforcement Detail on I-890 in the City of Schenectady. Subsequent to the enforcement detail Troopers issued 55 traffic tickets, most of which were for using a portable electronic device while driving. 

Section 1225-d of the Vehicle and Traffic Law prohibits holding any hand-held telephone, personal digital assistant, hand-held device with mobile data access, laptop computer, pager, broadband personal communication device, two-way messaging device, electronic game, or portable computing device while operating a motor vehicle while the vehicle is moving.
