Cohoes Police investigating potentially rabid raccoon

COHOES, N.Y. – Cohoes Police are investigating a potentially rabid raccoon bite in the city.

The attack occurred on Western Avenue where a man tending to cows in a barn was bitten. The victim is receiving rabies shots as a precaution.

Animal Control and Cohoes Police located the animal and put it down. Officials say it is the third raccoon that Animal Control has had to deal with in the past few weeks.

Residents are asked to report any animals to police or animal control and not approach it.
