Saratoga Springs, N. Y. - Officials in Saratoga Springs are calling their first Code Blue a success.
Six people used the shelter set up for the newly created program in the Spa City last night. The shelter was prepared to take up to ten people.
Temperature's prompted officials to issue the city's first Code Blue. The program was started in Saratoga Springs following the death of a homeless woman earlier this month.
The program is modeled after a similar program in Albany.
When a Code Blue is issued in the city, people who need a warm place to sleep and a hot meal can use the shelter without having to identify themselves. Other similar programs in the country require identification for people who seek shelter.
