Pancake supper held to benefit local couple devastated by fire

Florida, N.Y. -- A fundraiser is underway to help a couple who lost their home in a fire last Thursday.

Monday's pancake supper fundraiser begins at 4 p.m. and continues until 8 p.m. at the South 30 Diner in the town of Florida.

The couple, Jake and Jill Montesano, are both members of the National Guard. Jill has been deployed for 10 months and is scheduled to arrive home Friday night.  She was originally supposed to return on Saturday, but the Armed Forces division of the Red Cross helped get her an earlier flight home.

Both their home and two dogs were lost to the fire.

An online fundraiser also aims to raise $40,000 for the couple, and has currently brought in $41,208. Donations can be made here: http://www.gofundme.com/5umx8c
