GLENS FALLS, NY - Volunteers and staff members from the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York are continuing to monitor weather and road conditions in the North Country, and remain ready to mobilize resources and supplies to assist residents affected by today's ice storm.
Command centers are operating at the Adirondack-Saratoga Chapter office in Glens Falls in Warren County and at the Clinton County Emergency Operations Center in Plattsburgh.
Some homes remain without power in Clinton, Franklin and Essex counties, but the number of outages has declined since this morning.
In addition, ice jams on the AuSable River near Jay in Essex County have eased.
Red Cross personnel are ready to staff shelters if needed. About a dozen locations throughout the region have been identified, and will be opened upon request from local officials.
