Arrest made in March donation jar theft


GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- The Guilderland Police Department has made an arrest on a reported donation jar larceny dating back to March 25, 2013.

The donation jar was stolen from Hannoush Jewelers located in Crossgates Mall. At the time, three unknown suspects were caught on video surveillance entering the store, when one of the suspects took the jar and then all three left together.

After a lengthy investigation, Tyler Purvis-Mitchell, 19, was identified from the video and a warrant was issued for his arrest. 

He was located at the Albany County Correctional Facility where he was being held on unrelated charges. He was charged with one count of petit larceny and arraigned at the Guilderland Town Court. Bail was set in the amount of $2500 and he was turned back over to the custody of the Albany County Sheriff and transported back to jail.
