Brant Lake man sentenced for evading federal income tax

ALBANY, N.Y. – A Brant Lake man has been sentenced for evading federal income tax.

Stuart Mead, 61, was sentenced on Thursday to one year in jail, two years of post-release supervision, 200 hours of community service, and a $5,000 fine.

Mead pleaded guilty in August 2013, to attempting to conceal the nature and extent of his assets from the IRS. Mead was underreporting the amount of income he earned for rental property he owned. This took place between April 2006 and August 2010.

Mead will also pay $94,601 in restitution to the United States.
