Saratoga County woman remains in jail despite being granted bail

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. - The woman sentenced to prison earlier this month, after being convicted in a deadly crash, could be back on the streets.

The Saratoga County District Attorney's Office said they are expecting Traci Briskin, 40, to post a portion of her $75,000 bail to be released. The bail was granted to her by a New York State Appeals court pending her appeal.

The appeal stems from the manslaughter and DWI convictions handed down by a jury following a three week trial.

Briskin, of Clifton Park, was convicted of being impaired behind the wheel, when her car hit 49-year old Thomas Baker, a father of five, who later died.

She was sentenced to 2 ½ to 7 ½ years in State Prison in connection to causing the fatal crash.

According to court papers, while the appeal is being heard, briskin cannot drive a car or have any alcohol.

Briskin is currently at Bedford Hills Correctional in Westchester County.
