Code Blue in effect in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. – Code Blue is in effect in Albany Monday and Tuesday.

A Code Blue is issued when the temperature reaches ten degrees or less, including the wind chill. It also goes into effect when 12 inches or more of snow is forecasted.

During Code Blue, shelters are able to suspend routine agency eligibility to accept those in need of emergency shelter from the cold to prevent unsheltered homeless from exposure to severe winter weather and the health dangers associated with severe cold.

Some areas of the Capital Region received one foot or more of snow over the weekend resulting in some areas declaring a snow emergency.

During a snow emergency, cars are not allowed to park on certain sides of the street to accommodate for snow plowing.
