Cops on roof of two local stores for charity

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. – Local law enforcement officers will be on the roof of two local Wal-Mart stores to collect donations and raise awareness for Special Olympics New York and Law Enforcement Torch Run on Saturday.

The East Greenbush Police Department, Albany Police Department, Saratoga Springs Police Department, Washington County Sheriff's Officer, New York State police, the New York Army National Guard, plus other agencies, will be at the events on Saturday.

The locations are 279 Troy Road in East Greenbush and 16 Old Gick Road in Saratoga Springs. The officers will be on the roofs for 12 hours, starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m.

Law enforcement hopes to raise $15,000 during Saturday's event.

Raffles will be held in both stores.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a year-round fundraising campaign which benefits the local Special Olympics Program.
