HALFMOON, N.Y. - A fatal crash shut down part of Route 146 in Saratoga County on Thursday.
State Police say the 2-vehicle crash happened on Thursday shortly before 11 a.m., near the intersection of Route 146 and Plant Road, in Halfmoon.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle operated by Paul Bouchard, 83, turned on Route 146 from the Stewart's parking lot. As Bouchard pulled onto the road, he also entered the path of an oncoming vehicle.
The second vehicle was operated by 34-year-old Brian Stevens.
Bouchard was pronounced dead at the scene.
State Police say there was a second occupant in Bouchard's vehicle who was taken to Albany Medical Center for evaluation.
Stevens was treated at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The crash has since been cleared and the road is now open to motorists.
