FLORIDA, N.Y. - A Montgomery County woman is accused of killing her dog with an aluminum bat.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office received a report that a dog was previously killed by its owner and buried in the owner's back yard on October 25, 2013.
The Sheriff's office investigated the complaint which led to the arrest of Debralee Knight.
Knight is accused of intentionally hitting her pit bull dog with an aluminum baseball bat, resulting in the dog's death.
She has been charged under the Agriculture and Markets Law with Overdriving, Torturing and Injuring Animals; Failure to provide proper sustenance. The charge is a Class A Misdemeanor.
Knight was arraigned in the Town of Florida Court and released on her own recognizance.
She was issued an appearance ticket for Making a False Statement and is to appear in the Town of Glen Court on December 11 at 6 p.m.
