UTICA, N.Y. - The man accused of killing his 9-month-old son has entered a guilty plea.
Oneida County District Attorney
Scott McNamara says Jevon Wameling has pleaded guilty one count of Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree on Wednesday morning.
Wameling reported baby Levon Wameling missing earlier this summer. However, he admitted to waiting nearly two weeks before contacting authorities about the missing child.
Police say the father told officers the baby vanished from the front porch of his home, when he left him alone briefly to look for some keys.
According to authorities, the child's mother was in rehab when her baby disappeared.
In September, Levon's remains were found inside a box in the Mohawk River.
Wameling is scheduled to be sentenced the maximum, 7 1/2-15 years in State Prison on January 30, 2014.
The investigation into this case involved the Utica Police Department, New York State Police, Onondaga County Medical
Examiner's Office and the Oneida County District Attorney's Office.
