Woman accused of threatening a female with a shotgun

GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. – A woman has been accused of threatening another female with a gun on Tuesday.

Gloversville Police say they responded to a report of a female being threatened with a gun at 8 East State Street.

Officers discovered Tara Hoyt, 34, was armed with a shot gun and locked herself in the upstairs apartment, refusing to come out. It was unknown to authorities at this time if Hoyt was alone or with other occupants.

Following a short stand-off, officers convinced the woman to leave the apartment. She was immediately taken into custody, according to authorities.

The weapon was recovered and it was determined Hoyt had threatened another female with the shotgun.

Hoyt has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a felony and Menacing in the 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor. She was arraigned and sent to the Fulton County Correctional Facility and is expected to be in court on Wednesday.
