Taxi driver arrested after allegedly altering police report after accident


RENSSELAER, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Police Department Detectives Office has arrested a man following an investigation into an altered report.

George Maloney, 68, of East Greenbush was arrested on four charges on Saturday, November 23rd.

Maloney was involved in a property damage auto accident on November 12th, 2013 while he was operating a taxi in Rensselaer. He was ticketed for leaving the scene of the accident.

Maloney is now accused of filing a forged version of the accident report to his employer as the correct copy from police.

He has been charged with Forgery in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Impersonation in the 1st Degree, all felonies. He is also charged with Falsifying Business Records in the 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor.

Maloney was arraigned in city court and was released to be back in court on December 4th, 2013.

Maloney was an Albany Police Officer until he resigned in 1995.
