RICHMOND, Mass. – Fire crews had a hard time knocking down a fire that broke out at a home in Richmond, Mass. early Tuesday.

The fire broke out at 725 Canaan Rd. around 12:30 a.m. According to Richmond Fire Chief Stephen Traver, the fire started in the basement, but an oil tank exploded leading to the fire spreading to the entire house.

Traver told NEWS10 ABC that fireworks and ammunition in the house added tremendous fuel to the fire.

The house has been deemed a total loss. There are no injuries, and the two residents in the house at the time the fire started evacuated safely.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.

NEWS10 ABC will provide more updates as they become available.
