BUCHANAN, N.Y. -- Senator Chuck Schumer is attacking the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant, and what he calls a lack of security.
New York's senior senator says the plant has no requirements for manned 24-hour security on the waters surrounding the plant, and he wants the coast guard to step up to the job.
But the Federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission doesn't share Schumer's enthusiasm.
It claims while there may not always be security boats watching the waters, there are other measures already in place to make sure no one tries use the river to break into the plant.
