ALBANY, N.Y. -- Two people are in custody following a burglary on Hackett Boulevard on Friday.

On November 22, at about 12:15 p.m., a young adult who was home for the day observed a man breaking into his home on the 400 block of Hackett Boulevard and notified police. Officers quickly arrived on the scene while the suspect was still in the home. As officers approached, the suspect fled on foot leading officers in a short foot chase.

Shawn Atkinson, 34, of Schenectady, was apprehended in a nearby yard and was taken into custody. He was also found to be in possession of property taken from the victim's residence.

During the course of the incident, officers located an occupied vehicle associated with the burglary parked near the scene. The occupant, Lindsay Hall, 28, of Johnstown, was taken into custody without incident.

Atkinson was charged with Burglary, Petit Larceny, Criminal Mischief, and Criminal Trespass. Hall was charged with Burglary and Petit Larceny.

Both were arraigned in the Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.

Atkinson is currently under the supervision of New York State Parole. In 2006, he committed a burglary in the Town of Duanesburg and was convicted of Burglary 2nd. He was sentenced to six-and-a-half years and is to be under the supervision of parole until August of 2015.
