ALBANY, N.Y. -- New Yorkers are expected to spend several hundred dollars this holiday season according to Siena's annual holiday shopping poll.
According to the poll, 51 percent of New Yorkers will spend over $500 on gifts this holiday season, down from 56 percent a year ago.
About 28 percent have budgeted less than $300 - up from 23 percent a year ago.
As for shopping on Thanksgiving, 64 percent say stores should be closed while one in ten say they will hit the shops. But nearly two-thirds say they will be shopping online this season.
