Steven D. Walker, 34, of Gallupville, is charged with felony Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The child was examined by her regular dentist who noted that three of her previously observed permanent teeth had been forcibly removed. The dentist reported the incident to Schoharie County Child Protective Services, who in turn contacted the State Police.
State Police allege that the teeth were forcibly removed from the victim with a plier type implement. A forensic odontologist and oral surgeon examined the child's mouth and concluded three of the childs teeth and been forcibly removed.
Walker is due in the Town of Wright Court Monday, November 25 at 7 p.m.
Alice Knoll, who says she is the victims aunt, claims Walker is innocent and that the teeth in question have been missing since long before he was charged. She says the girl would often pull at her own teeth causing then to bleed.
"It's difficult, Jessica is really struggling, his kids, his biological kids are struggling. They don't understand. They know that addy didn't do anything wrong. That daddy would never hurt her or them," she says.
