Stolen car crashes, owner ticketed

TROY, N.Y. - Troy Police are looking for two suspects who fled from the scene of an accident on Third Street Sunday.

The two-vehicle crash occurred around noon at the intersection of Third Street and Washington Street.

Witnesses said one of the vehicles was speeding through the intersection when it struck a van sending it off the road. It then struck a street sign and sheared off a fire hydrant.

Four people in the van were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The two men in the other car fled the scene on foot. The owner of that vehicle called police and reported it as stolen. She was given a ticket for leaving an unattended motor vehicle in operation.

The owner told police she left the car running outside to warm it up when it was stolen.

The accident is still under investigation.
