Niskayuna standoff ends with one arrest

Niskayuna, N. Y. - A standoff on Balltown road that started Friday evening ended shortly after midnight after SWAT teams entered the residence and took the man into custody, according to police.

They say the incident began shortly before 6pm following a domestic incident involving 30-year-old Matthew Hayner of Gloversville.

Police say Hayner showed up at the residence where his child and the child's mother lived, violating a court order.

A woman and children in the residence at the time managed to leave the home unharmed and contacted police.

Neighboring homes were evacuated during the standoff as a precaution as it was unknown if Hayner was armed.

Hayner was taken into custody and is set to be arraigned in Court this morning. There were no injuries.
