Argyle woman arrested for allegedly collecting $995 in welfare benefits

WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.Y. – A 27-year-old Argyle woman has been arrested and charged with larceny after allegedly collecting welfare benefits she was not entitled to.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested and charged Lindsey VanAernem with Petit Larceny.

An investigation by the Washington County Department of Social Services and the Washington County Sheriff's Office revealed VanAernem is accused of not reporting household income, while collecting welfare benefits. As a result, she received $995 in Food Stamp benefits she was not entitled to.

VanAernem was arrested, processed at the Fort Edward Sheriff's Office, and released for a future court date in the Town of Fort Edward Court.
