Lake George teen involved in rollover accident

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. – A 16-year-old was uninjured Thursday after police say he struck a utility pole, causing his vehicle to overturn.

The Warren County Sheriff's Officer investigated the rollover accident that occurred at 7:40 a.m., on Lake Shore Drive in the Town of Lake George.

Joel H. Wincowski, 16, was operating a 2006 Hyundai sport utility vehicle southbound on Lake Shore drive when police say he became distracted by adjusting his radio and drove off the right side of the highway. He then struck a utility pole which caused the vehicle to overturn in the highway.

The teen was out of the vehicle when emergency responders arrived on the scene and was shaken up, but uninjured.  Wincowski, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, was examined by Lake George EMS at the scene.

Lake George Fire Department also responded and assisted with traffic while National Grid crews worked on clearing power and utility lines from the road and replacing the pole.

No tickets were issued.
