DUANESBURG, N.Y. - A home on Mudge Road was deemed a total loss after being fully engulfed in flames Tuesday night.

The fire at 2288 Mudge Rd. broke out just before 8 p.m.

Cold temperatures and wind made it difficult for crews to fight the fire. Water needed to be shuttled in to the area, and it took eight fire departments to put out the flame.

The 30-year-old house eventually collapsed and was reduced to nothing but rubble.

Two people lived in the large, single family home, but they were not at the house when the flames began.

Schenectady County Fire Coordinator John Nuzback said the fire was called in by a neighbor, and it began at the back of the house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
