UPDATE: Man arrested, accused of Rite Aid robbery


MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. – A local man who wanted by police for questioning in relation to a robbery at a Mechanicville Rite Aid has been arrested.

The Mechanicville Police Department announced on Monday they were looking to question Justin Franz, 33, about the robbery which took place on Sunday.

Franz was arrested on Tuesday and charged with Robbery in the first-degree and Grand Larceny in the third-degree.

According to authorities, the Green Island man entered the Rite Aid in Park Plaza, jumped behind the pharmacy counter and demanded pills.

Franz allegedly implied that he had a handgun, and forced employees to hand over bottles of prescription medication. He then fled on foot and was captured in Cohoes.

He has been arraigned and sent to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash or $60,000 bond.
