BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. – A local 5-year-old boy will be Grand Marshall of the annual Ballston Spa Holiday Parade.
Lucas DeFabio was born with a fatal genetic disorder, Menkes Disease, in which the body does not metabolize copper.
November is Menkes Awareness Month and Luke and his family want to bring that awareness to the community to help others be diagnosed and treated in time. He will be joined by his parents and younger brother, Alex, during the parade.
This year's parade is sponsored by Ballston Spa National Bank, Saratoga County Fair, Curtis Lumber, Adirondack Trust Company and WAM Commercial Associates. It begins with a step off time of 6:30 pm, proceeding on Milton Avenue and ending in Wiswall Park on Front Street with Santa lighting the village Christmas tree.
The parade will be held Friday evening, December 6th as part of Ballston Spa's Holiday Weekend celebration.
