SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Potential students will have the opportunity to get a jump start on classes at the Schenectady County Community College Extension Site in downtown Albany at an instant admission, registration session on Tuesday.

"We truly cannot wait to get classes started in downtown Albany," said SCCC Board of Trustees Chairwoman, Denise Murphy McGraw. "That's why we're getting the ball rolling on admissions now, so all our future students can get a sense of what SCCC will offer them at this new extension site."

Potential students will be able to seek academic advisement and apply for instant admission at the session, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 19 on the first floor of the Extension Site Building on State Street in Albany.

"This mutually beneficial arrangement with Albany County has already proved to have enormous potential," said SCCC President, Dr. Quintin Bullock. "Transformation of the county office space into classroom space is well under way, and now it's time to share the exciting programs and opportunities that will be available here for our students."

Courses in the following programs will be available at the extension site:

  • Alternative Energy Technology
  • Casino and Gaming Management
  • Chemical Dependency Counseling Certificate
  • Hospitality and Tourism Management
  • Medical Coding and Billing Certificate
  • Nanoscale Materials Technology
  • Paralegal Supply Chain Management

Officially announced in January, the second floor of 112 State Street is currently being transformed into 10,000 square feet of classroom space. The opening of the new extension site in the Albany County Office Building is scheduled for the spring 2014 semester.
