FORT EDWARD, N.Y. - Negotiations between GE and workers at the company's Fort Edward plant have ended without an agreement.
The 60 day period, allowing the local union to present General Electric with proposals to save the plant, ended at midnight.
The union says it offered to cut jobs by 10-percent and modernize equipment, but GE says those offerings fell short of the savings it would gain by moving the plant to Clearwater, Florida.
Two hundred jobs will be cut as a result of the plant closing. However, GE says it has not made a final decision.
