Hudson Falls man arrested for welfare fraud

WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.Y. – A 34-year-old Hudson Falls man has been arrested and charged after allegedly collecting food stamp benefits he was not entitled to.

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested Jonathan Pierson and charged him with felony Grand Larceny.  

Based on the results of an investigation by the Washington County Department of Social Services and the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Pierson is accused of not reporting household income, while collecting welfare benefits. As a result, Pierson received $1,039 in Food Stamp benefits he was not entitled to.

Pierson was arrested, processed at the Fort Edward Sheriff's Office, and released for a future court date in the Town of Fort Edward Court.
