CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. - Imelda Browning of Clifton Park was living in fear for days following Typhoon Haiyan as she waited to hear news that her parents and younger brother survived the devastation that hit their hometown in Tacloban City.
Finally, word came after Browning reached out to friends on Facebook.
"She passed that message for me and amazing how just everybody is just reaching out to help others," said Browning.
On Friday Browning spoke with her parents for the first time since the super storm hit.
"Very difficult to discuss even what took place but we were just so excited that they're alive," said Browning.
Browning wasn't the only one trying to track down the well known missionaries, others were also looking for Johnathan and Ellen Sparks. Those also searching went to Google's Person Finder. On Saturday comfort came to those using the site after another family member updated the online tool saying he had talked with the couple, confirming they are alive.
"My brother-in-law instantly posted that because so many people, family, friends, the church just everybody we know has been looking for them," said Browning.
Browning says her parents are currently trying to rebuild their church for shelter.
