GLENVILLE, N.Y. – Every child knows the excitement of receiving a Christmas gift, but not every family is able to provide one – so Dunkin Donuts teamed up with the US Marine Corps on Friday to help those children this holiday season.
A group of Dunkin Donuts employees, Marines, and community members were ready to shop -- grabbing carts and heading right for the toys.
It was a shopping spree of $30,000, all made possible by Dunkin Donuts and their contribution to the Toys for Tots Foundation.
Each participant in the shopping spree had a specific age group they were shopping for, and once a shopping cart was filled they headed for the checkout line.
All of the toys will be loaded on the Marine Corps
Reserves' Dunkin' Donuts Toys for Tots Train and will be distributed to thousands of children during the train's annual run on December 7th and 8th from Binghamton all the way to Rouses Point near the Canadian Border.
This is the fifth year they have been putting on the event, and this year coordinators say they're preparing to help over 200,000 families.
