SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – A man has been convicted of Rape in the First Degree after a seven-day jury trial.
Greg Tucker, 50, was convicted of the charge on Wednesday.
In November 2011, Tucker was living in an apartment on Jay Street when he invited a mentally ill woman up to his apartment to smoke marijuana. The 23-year-old woman was given two pills by Tucker, who claimed they would help her relax.
After ingesting the pills, the woman fell asleep and woke up missing her clothes from the waist down. The woman reported the incident to her case worker the next day and was treated at Ellis Hospital.
The DNA from a rape kit used by the hospital revealed Tucker was a match.
DA Carney stated the victim was notified Tucker was convicted and she "cried in happiness."
Tucker is scheduled to be sentenced on February 13, 2014. He faces a maximum of 25 years in State Prison and 25 years post release supervision. He will also have to register as a sex offender.
