Albany teen guilty in 15-year-old’s death sentenced to prison

Updated:

ALBANY, N.Y. – A 19-year-old has been sentenced to prison and post release supervision in the death of a 15-year-old.

Juan Anderson, 19, of Albany, was sentenced to 18 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post Release Supervision in Albany County Court Thursday morning.

Anderson pleaded guilty in September to one Count of Manslaughter in the first-degree, a felony.

On May 25, 2012, on Third Avenue in the City of Albany, police say Anderson caused a serious physical injury to a 15 year old male by stabbing him with a sharp object during the commission of a robbery.  An investigation led by the Albany Police Department uncovered that the defendant attempted to steal a bicycle from the victim and caused injury to the victim when he refused to comply.

The victim was left paralyzed from the neck down and later succumbed to his injuries and died on March 21, 2013.
