Beech Nut facility hit with $1M in tax relief penalties

Updated:

FLORIDA, N.Y. -- The Montgomery County based Beech Nut facility has been hit with $1 million in tax relief penalties.

County Economic Development Director Ken Rose says the baby food company in the town of Florida violated its payment in lieu of taxes, or "pilot" agreement.

Beech-nut is accused of not meeting it's required employment marks as dictated by the agreement, leading to the hefty penalty.

Rose says this is the second year the company has been charged property tax penalties, but last year's was substantially less.
