Code Blue shelter program to kick off Friday

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Capital City Rescue Mission will announce the Kick off to Code Blue this Friday.

Code Blue is an outreach program meant to get homeless people to shelter when extreme winter conditions hit.

The program goes into effect when the temperature, including wind chill, is ten degrees, and also when twelve or more inches of snow is forecasted.

The program has housed nearly 600 people within its first three seasons.
