Schenectady City School District to hold community and schools forum

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The Schenectady City School District will hold a public forum and panel discussion Let's Talk about Our Community and Schools on Wednesday.

The public panel, in partnership with the Schenectady County Human Rights Commission, will be held at 6 p.m. at the Schenectady County Public Library, Main Branch, McChesney Room.

This public forum comes after the district identified an all-girl fight club at Mont Pleasant Middle School in October. At the same time- 18 students were suspended from the same school for bad behavior.

The Schenectady County Human Rights Commission will moderate the discussion about school and community concerns.

The panel will include:

  • Brian Kilcullen, Police Chief of the Schenectady Police Department

  • LeRoy Fogle, CEO of Rainbow Youth Services

  • Robyn King, NYS Licensed Mental Health Counselor

  • Latasha Manning, Schenectady Middle School Parent

  • Larry Spring, Superintendent of Schenectady City Schools
