ALBANY, N.Y. – Albany's Mayor-elect, Kathy Sheehan, has announced the co-chairs of her transition committee.
The committee made up of Nancy Burton, Dr. Robert, Hon. John J. McEneny, and Kevin O'Connor will help lead the transition efforts leading to her inauguration on Jan. 1, 2014.
Nancy Burton served as City Comptroller from 1994 to 2001 and as a member of the Albany Common Council from 1978 to 1989. Additionally, Burton served nearly ten years in the Office of the New York State Comptroller.
Dr. Robert Jones is the 19th president of the University at Albany. Dr. Jones had previously served as senior vice president of academic administration for the University of Minnesota System, where he spent more than 25 years in various leadership capacities
Hon. John J. McEneny served twenty years in the New York State Assembly, representing Albany. McEneny has served in numerous roles in government, including as Commissioner of Human Resources under Mayor Erastus Corning 2nd and at one point managed over 3,300 workers.
Kevin O'Connor recently retired as president and chief executive officer of FirstLight Fiber. O'Connor serves as a board member for FirstLight and AMRI, and chairman of the Albany Parking Authority.
"As we embark onto a new day for our city, I am confident in these individuals – who represent different aspects of our city's fabric and its history – to help shepherd transition efforts to ensure we are ready to lead on Day One," said Mayor-elect Sheehan.
