COLUMBIA, N.Y. -- Representative Chris Gibson was at hand to help cut the ribbon and dedicate a center just for veterans at Columbia Green Community College.
The Battle Buddy Center "is a safe haven for veterans to socialize with their fellow veterans and receive services they need." A $10,000 grant from New York State Industries for the Disabled with support from Coarc in Mellenville and Ulster-Greene ARC in Kingston made the center possible.
"We selected the name after talking to a number of veterans," said Ron Romano President and CEO of NYSID.
The Battle Buddy Center at CGCC includes a lounge with television, a computer workstation, as well as a coffee center.
"Veterans sometimes have a difficult time talking to other people but they can talk to each other," said Kevin Kropp, chair of the Veterans Task Force Committee at CGCC.
