Man arrested on bench warrant also charged after dragging 11-year-old relative

GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. – Police arrested a man on Thursday on a Gloversville City Court bench warrant along with other pending charges.

According to the police department, Michael Blaney, 32, attempted to flee the 16th Seventh Avenue residence as officer arrived to the area.

However, Blaney was apprehended and taken into custody on the bench warrant for Failure to Appear on a Vehicle and traffic violation.  He also faces additional charges stemming from Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Attempted Assault in the Third Degree, all misdemeanors.

The additional charges stem from a complaint that Blaney grabbed and dragged his 11-year-old nephew during an argument at a Jay Street home. Following that incident, he was located by authorities with heroin.

Blaney was arraigned in city court and sent to Fulton County Correction Facility on $2,500 cash bail.
