GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. – Police arrested two people on drug charges following a traffic stop of a rental vehicle.

According to authorities, on Tuesday, a Gloversville Police Officer stopped the vehicle on Carpenter Street.  During the stop, the officer determined none of the occupants of the vehicle were on the rental agreement.

Justin Jansen, 25, of Schenectady, was driving the car although he allegedly did not have a license to operate the vehicle.

Detectives were called to the scene to interview Jansen and the occupant, 26-year-old Chiffon Butler of New Jersey.

The interview led to the discovery of 23 grams of crack cocaine in the vehicle with a street value of about $2,500.

Jansen and Butler were taken into custody for further investigation.  Bother have been charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a felony. They have been arraigned in city court and remanded to Fulton County Correction Facility on $50,000 cash bail.

The vehicle was also secured for further examination.
