Zurlo elected newest Saratoga County Sheriff in over 40 years

SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. – Saratoga County has elected a new Sheriff for the first time in about 40 years.

Republican and Independence Candidate Michael Zurlo won the position of Sheriff with 62 percent of the vote on Tuesday night.

The current Saratoga County Sheriff, James Bowen, is retiring after more than 40 years in the position.

Zurlo ran against Conservative and Democratic candidate, Phil Lindsey, and Jason Longton Jr. who ran on the "Stop Corruption" Independent line.

Prior to the election result being official on Tuesday, Zurlo told NEWS10 ABC, "Technology will be a big factor" including the "website, social media, Facebook and Twitter."

A safe place for them to live, work and raise a family and still continue with my team safety advisory council."
