Washington County saw one of the most hotly contested races in our area Tuesday night.
Current Washington County District Attorney Kevin Kortright lost Tuesday night's election to Republican challenger Assemblyman Tony Jordan.
Jordan won the county's election by an overwhelming two-thirds of the vote. Jordan took 68 percent of the vote, with a total of 7,707 votes, and Kortright had 32 percent of the vote, with 3,615 votes.
Kortright had to run on the democratic line after his county republicans threw their support behind Jordan. The race was heated, with Jordan accusing the incumbent District Attorney of lacking leadership for the job, while Kortright said the Assemblyman didn't bring enough experience to the job.
Jordan says he will resign his Assembly seat.
