ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - An Albany hospital has received a more than $15 million donation as it launches its public phase of a $125 million capital campaign.
Officials at Albany Medical Center announced Wednesday that the hospital had received a $15.5 million donation, the largest gift in the institution's more than 170-year history.
Officials say the donor has requested anonymity.
The hospital has so far raised nearly $106 million toward its capital campaign goal of $125 million. Officials say the funds will be used for education and research and for a new patient pavilion that became fully operational earlier this month.
The medical center includes a 700-bed hospital and Albany Medical College.
