ALBANY, N.Y. -- Advocates of expanded casino gambling in New York are coming together to support Proposal One, a referendum that would allow up to four full service casinos in the state.
Assemblyman Tony Jordan and other labor leaders gathered at the Saratoga Casino and Raceway on Wednesday to talk about the potential benefits of the expansion.
They say its passage could mean good things for not only the county but the surrounding area as well.
Supporters say it will bring $35 million to the area for schools and tax relief, as well as create 10,000 jobs statewide.
Critics of the proposal say more casinos will like mean higher rates of crime and gambling addiction.
