Schenectady garage fire extinguished before spreading through yard

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -  There was an early morning garage fire in Schenectady which spread to a neighboring yard.

The Deputy Chief of the Schenectady Fire Department says the call came in around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.  A detatched garage behind a residence on Sumner Avenue was on fire.

The flames spread to a shed in a neighboring yard as firefighters arrived to the scene.

Firefighters were able to put the blaze out before the fire spread through more property.

The crew is waiting for daylight to look for hot spots and begin investigating the cause of the fire.

No one was injured.
