Albany sex offender pleads guilty to charges of failing to report address

ALBANY, N.Y. – A 43-year-old man pleaded guilty in court Tuesday after police say he failed to report his change of address as required for sex offenders.

Jimmy Lee Davis, 43, pleaded guilty to one felony Count of Sex Offender Failure to Report Change Address/Status in 10 days- Second Offense in Albany County Court on Tuesday morning.

On March 30, 2012 the defendant, a Level 3 Sex Offender, registered his address with the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services at a residence on Central Avenue in the City of Albany. On August 15, 2013, the defendant moved out of this residence and did not inform the Department of Criminal Justice Services of his change in residency as required by law. The defendant was homeless at the time of his arrest on September 24, 2013.

Davis faces 1 to 3 years in State Prison when sentenced on December 10, 2013.

"With Halloween this week, I encourage parents to make a safety plan to ensure the safest route possible when their children are out trick-or-treating. One way to do that is to utilize Offender Watch, a searchable database where users can search for convicted sex offenders who reside in their community," commented District Attorney Soares.
