Saratoga Springs PD release details on deadly August accidents

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Saratoga Springs Police have provided new details on two deadly accidents back in August.

On August 25, a Troy motorcyclist was killed after colliding with an SUV outside SPAC. At the time, police said the SUV, driven by Debra Powell of Northborough, Mass. was turning into SPAC from Route 9 when 26-year old Christopher Thomas's motorcycle ran into her.

Thomas died at the scene. Witnesses told police he was speeding.

On Tuesday, officers said Powell was eventually ticketed for making an unsafe left turn, and that tests showed Thomas had alcohol in his system, but not enough to be legally intoxicated.

And police now say fatigue may have played a role in a crash that killed a bicyclist on Lake Avenue two days prior.

Justin Price, 20, was killed when authorities say he became distracted and drifted into the path of a tractor trailer.

No tickets were issued in this incident.
