SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Firefighters responded to Napoli Bakery in Schenectady on Sunday and were able to quickly put out a fire that started in the walls of the popular shop.
Schenectady Fire Department officials say the fire broke out at the bakery, located at 2309 Guilderland
Avenue, around 7:20 p.m. on Sunday. The fire was knocked down about 25 minutes later, but firefighters stayed on scene for about another hour to watch for hotspots.
Upon arrival, the fire was visible near the rear door of the building. Officials say the fire was labor intensive because the fire was in the walls.
The building is currently uninhabitable due to the water and gas being turned off. The building will be repaired for smoke and water damage caused during the incident.
The fire does not appear suspicious, though the cause is under investigation at this time.
